RAD Data Communications Opens Office in Lagos

First Office on the African Continent

RAD Data Communications, the award-winning manufacturer of unique telecommunications access solutions, will open its first African office on November 22 in Lagos.

“Our decision to establish our RAD West Africa office in Lagos was made in recognition of Nigeria’s importance as the largest and potentially most important market in Africa,” states Efraim Wachtel, President and CEO of RAD Data Communications. “Nigeria is committed to improving its telecom infrastructure and to leveraging the benefits brought by high speed data services and ubiquitous voice,” he continues. “RAD can play a pivotal role in enabling rapid service deployment and also lowering the cost of operations so essential to the success of operators in a very competitive and price sensitive market.”

RAD solutions enable carriers and service providers to deploy new revenue-generating Next Generation services over any access infrastructure while lower operating expenses and optimizing resources. RAD’s cross-generation solutions protect their existing legacy revenue streams by facilitating a smooth migration to new packet switched infrastructure with minimal disruption to existing customers or networks.

Mobile operators deploy RAD solutions to reduce backhaul costs for 2G, 3G and 3.5G traffic.

Public utilities and the energy sector employ RAD solutions to transport critical applications, such as SCADA, as well as video surveillance, voice, and data over secure and reliable terrestrial and wireless connections, while facilitating migration to IP and Ethernet.

Avner Tsipori, from RAD’s Tel Aviv headquarters, has been named General Manager of the new office. His main responsibilities will be to expand RAD’s market presence with local operators and service providers, both landline and mobile. “RAD’s product portfolio has been well received by Nigerian telecommunications providers, both public and private,” he notes. “This is because RAD offers a comprehensive, integrated and interoperable access solution at a competitive price that delivers long-term value.”

RAD products have been sold in Nigeria by local distributors for well over a decade. RAD’s local partners in Nigeria are Dizengoff WA Limited and PPC Limited.
