RAD Upgrades Wireless Multiplexer to Support Video Surveillance Applications

RAD Data Communications has announced that it has introduced a new version of its Airmux-200 carrier class wireless multiplexer that is suitable for transmitting video surveillance applications.

RAD’s new carrier class Airmux-200VS wireless multiplexer supports high-capacity megapixel IP cameras that consume large quantities of bandwidth. The Airmux-200VS supports these asymmetrical video applications by providing 2/5 Mbps throughput at a distance of up to 20 kilometers (12.5 miles). Robustness and reliability are exacting and support advanced applications such as license-plate or face recognition, focused alerts and transmission of maximum information to manned patrols in real-time and mission-critical assignments that require zero-tolerance of system downtime and quality degradation.

The Airmux-200VS transmits over 2.3 to 2.7 GHz and 4.9 to 5.95 GHZ bands, which are license-free in most countries. Transmission is encrypted to ensure security. When even greater bandwidth is required, the Airmux-400, which provides 50 Mbps full duplex symmetrical net throughput and transmits over various unlicensed sub-6 GHz frequencies, can be deployed.

Because they transmit over unlicensed bands, RAD’s Airmux solutions can be installed and up and working almost immediately.

“Video surveillance over wireless links may be deployed at any location and it is especially useful for locations where wireline is not an alternative, such as historical and archeological sites and at isolated rural locations,” notes Elad Harf, Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications. “The simplicity of its installation, moreover, makes the Airmux an ideal solution for deployment along highways, on college and university campuses and along international borders.”
